esc Aerospace Joins Landmark Czech AMBIC Mission to Strengthen National Satellite Capabilities

Prague, 27 March 2026 – The Czech space industry has reached a major milestone, marking a new era in national space capabilities. Representatives of VZLU and the European Space Agency (ESA) have officially signed a contract for the development of the AMBIC (Ambitious Czech Satellite). esc Aerospace is proud to contribute to this landmark mission as a key subcontractor for critical onboard electronics.

At esc Aerospace, we are currently developing the Data Handling System (DHS), which serves as the satellite’s primary command and control computer. As the “brain” of the mission, the DHS is responsible for all onboard processes—from the efficient processing and storage of data from instruments to transforming raw data into actionable insights for end-users.

In addition to the main flight computer, esc Aerospace is also providing the dedicated hardware (computer) for the AOCS Controller (Attitude and Orbit Control System). This subsystem is essential for the satellite’s autonomous orientation and stabilization, directly enabling the precision required for high-quality Earth observation.

Scheduled for launch in 2030, the AMBIC satellite will deliver independent, high-resolution Earth observation imagery (1.2 m GSD), empowering state authorities with critical data for emergency response, infrastructure monitoring, and environmental protection. The mission represents a significant step towards greater technological sovereignty and resilience for the Czech Republic.
