Josef Koutský). As part of the mission, which aimed to explore opportunities for international cooperation in space activities, the delegation visited key entities in the UAE, including the UAE Space Agency, MBRSC, Orbitalworks, and Space42. During the visit to Space42, their satellite communication products, the GIQ geospatial intelligence platform, and intelligent AI services were showcased. Czech Space Week 2025 took place — the largest national festival celebrating innovation and collaboration in the space sector. Running from October 20–26, it brought together companies, researchers, startups, and the public through events such as Space2Business, the Copernicus User Forum, and the prestigious Czech Space Gala. The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Czech Republic, General Petr Pavel, who delivered the opening remarks and highlighted the importance of Czech activities in space.

The week highlights Czechia’s growing role in global space activities, showcasing advances in satellite technologies, Earth observation, and space-based services. With more than 100 participants from industry and academia, CSW 2025 fosters new partnerships, investment opportunities, and knowledge exchange.

At the event, esc Aerospace was represented by CEO Richard Sysala and Petr Suchánek. The company showcased its capabilities through demonstrations of manufactured hardware, printed materials, and original corporate posters within its exhibition space at the Liechtenstein Palace.

The Czech Space Alliance (ČVA), a long-standing partner of the Czech space ecosystem, is becoming a partner of Czech Space Week. During the week, the Alliance will present its activities to both professionals and the general public, including an exhibition at Space2Business and the Space Pavilion at Gaudeamus in Brno.

The partnership with the festival is an opportunity for the ČVA to showcase the contribution of the Czech space sector to the economy and society, and to promote its importance to the public and state institutions. Stop   by booths 7 and 8 at the Liechtenstein Palace during Space2Business to meet representatives of the Alliance as well as the company esc Aerospace.

Richard Sysala, CEO of ESC AEROSPACE, joined a business mission to Belgium and the Netherlands, organized by the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic with support from the Embassies in Brussels and The Hague. The mission highlighted the Czech space industry and opened doors to key players including BELSPO, SABCA, Antwerp Space, Redwire Space, Thales Alenia Space Belgium, Space Applications Services, AAC Clyde Space, ISIS Space, Cosine and NLR.

Richard Sysala actively contributed to the discussions, presented the company’s potentialities and engaged with potential partners to explore new opportunities for cooperation.

On 23th od July, ESC Aerospace recently welcomed Stephen Phil Airey, Head of the Section for New, Associate and Cooperating States at the European Space Agency (ESA), during his visit to the Czech Republic. The meeting was informal in nature and part of Mr. Airey’s broader agenda to connect with companies across ESA-partner countries.

During his visit, ESC Aerospace presented its portfolio of activities, including past and current projects, key customers, and practical challenges in cooperation with ESA. The discussion focused on areas where Mr. Airey and his team could provide guidance or support. Mr. Airey leads the ESA section dedicated to strengthening the space industry in countries with new, associate, or cooperating status, and his visit highlights ESA’s ongoing commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration across its expanding member network.

Prague, 9th  July 2025 – Top Earth observation experts convened in Prague for a key milestone in the selection of ESA’s next Earth Explorer mission. The two finalists – CAIRT (changing-atmosphere infrared tomography), aimed at understanding climate–chemistry interactions in the upper atmosphere, and WIVERN (wind velocity radar nephoscope), designed to measure wind and precipitation within clouds – were thoroughly presented and debated.

The outcome of this consultation will inform ESA’s final decision in September 2025. Representing the Czech space industry, Richard Sysala, CEO of ESC AEROSPACE, participated in the discussions, underlining Czechia’s active role in shaping Europe’s future in Earth observation.

The Solar Orbiter mission, led by the European Space Agency (ESA) in collaboration with NASA, has recently delivered the first close-up images of the Sun’s southern pole — a region never before seen in such detail. These observations mark a major step forward in understanding the Sun’s magnetic activity, solar wind, and the 11-year solar cycle. Czech companies and institutions have made a notable contribution to this international effort. Among them, esc Aerospace participated in the development of the STIX (Spectrometer/Telescope for Imaging X-rays) instrument, which provides imaging spectroscopy of solar thermal and non-thermal X-ray emissions. Other Czech partners involved in the mission include the Czech Academy of Sciences and additional research teams, highlighting the strong presence of Czech science and technology in cutting-edge space research.

The Solar Orbiter mission is unique in that it is gradually tilting its orbit out of the ecliptic plane, allowing it to view the Sun from higher latitudes. In March 2025, the spacecraft reached an inclination of 17°, capturing unprecedented views of the Sun’s southern pole. In the coming years, it will continue to raise its orbital tilt — up to 33° by 2029 — providing even better vantage points for observing the polar regions.

This mission is set to deliver continuous and long-term measurements throughout a full solar cycle, improving our ability to forecast solar activity and its effects on Earth. Further image data, including from the STIX instrument, is expected to arrive in the coming months and years.
